John has over 42 years experience in engineering. As a time-served Mechanical Technician apprentice, he has “real” hands on experience, a valuable resource to any type of industry in today’s highly competitive age. An engineer by training, but a salesman by choice, he has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree and City and Guilds Full Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Technician level 6)

John immediately decided to specialise in the early applications of variable speed drives, as a Sales Engineer with Schneider Electric. (Specialising in inverters/soft starts) He followed this in positions with Baumueller and Bosch Rexroth (Indramat) specialising in servo motors/drives/controllers, as well as in the field of CNC applications. His mechanical experience enabled him to apply total solutions to the practical requirements of a CNC system.

His career at Sensortronic/ Powertronic expanded his knowledge to encompass electrical feedback systems, with (Huebner) encoders and DC tachogenerators being indispensible elements of many drive systems.

On the demise of Powertronic and Sensortronic, John, together with the Steve and Alan, capitalised on the synergy of their collective knowledge in motors, drives, and control systems, to form the new company:
