Alan has many years experience in engineering. As a time-served Electronics Technician apprentice with AEI Power Semi-conductors, he has real hands-on electrical, electronic and controls experience, attributes which are invaluable in the automation industry of today. He is an Engineer by training, but a salesman by choice, with a technical degree (BSc Hons. Control Engineering) an HNC in Electrical Engineering and a City & Guilds certificate in Industrial Electronics (Technicial Level 5)
Following his apprenticeship, he embarked on a ten year period in the Steel Industry. Commencing on the Instruments Mechanics bench he progressed to the position of Graduate Controls Engineer, where he obtained a wealth of practical experience in “real world” control systems. From ” hands-on” high Voltage motor control on the rolling mills and miniature servo drives for instrumentation recorders, he then moved into a number of sales roles in the sphere of the instrumentation, power and sensor industries.
His penultimate career move to Sensortronic and Powertronic Ltd expanded his knowledge even further to encompass rotary and linear feedback systems and Unitronics OPLCs. On the demise of Powertronic and Sensortronic, Alan, together with John (Krzeminski), formed a new company (Alldrives & Controls Ltd) in 2009, thus, capitalising on the synergy of their collective decades of experience in the sphere of factory automation systems.
